An actual update

Not sure if you put the two together, but since we don't have the internet at home yet (which is a huge "I HATE AT&T story" for another day) I can only blog from my phone right now, I've been doing a lot of photo updates.

We are selling things on craigslist to get rid of junk we don't need or use. We spent most of the day yesterday organizing the garage so that I can park in there comfortably instead of shoving stuff out of the way every time I pull in. I need a tennis ball hanging like my dad so I know how far to pull in.

We still need to put up a fence in the backyard, which I guess will not happen for several more weeks now since we have plans for weekends... I hate walking General in the morning because he just wants to run after kids going to the bus stop or bark at the garbage truck or just stare into space. I don't really have time for any of these things at 7am.

Thursday

An update

The hubs and I are lounging at home, I'm on some friendly neighbor's stolen internets. Thanks for being open, mystery neighbor. I appreciate it.

My college roomie, her man and our other friend from college came by to see the house tonight. Unfortunately we are getting new couches tomorrow, so they did not get to see the house with a pretty new seating area. They did get the "before" look though because we still have boxes and junk in every room. Our subdivision yard sale is in October and I have several piles dedicated as "for sale" stuff that we do not need.

There's your update. Time to put together a tv stand in preparation for "man room" assembly.

OMG traffic!

The difference between MO and IL traffic is that MO traffic is reliable and consistent. I know how much extra time to give myself depending on the time of day I'm leaving and what time I need to be at work.

IL traffic is completely variant and unpredictable. For example, yesterday - I flew over the bridge with not even brake-slamming. Today, I sat in line inching across the river and traffic was backed up for 3 miles. Why can't we all do it the same way every day?

Wednesday

lonely times at night

Because I have never actually lived “on my own” in my life, I’m finding it very hard to sleep comfortably at night. I’ve slept in my own bed, alone for most of my life, and that is not the problem. The problem is while Hubby is looking for a job, he’s commuting during the week so I don’t have any one at home to protect me. Only the General, who would probably just lick the legs of an intruder until they petted him, and then go straight back to bed.

Monday

New House stuff

I took General to his new vet - in and out with shots and paper work in less than 15 minutes!! I call that efficient. I wonder if they've done some lean work? I still owe the county $10 before I can get his little rabies tag, but at least I know he's up-to-date on his shots.

My family room walls currently look like they had the chicken pox from all the spots that we had to fill with spackling stuff. I'm hoping to paint them all away tonight. I also want to finish working in the master closet. Now that we have a walk-in closet I am beside myself with how to organize it. I also want to keep it color-coded like I'm hanging stuff up so it looks amazing all the time.

Hiatus

Hopefully our internet at home will be turned on today and I can get back to regular blogging. I know a while ago I promised a full view of the PNH, now the official new house. I wish we could stay home all weekend and work on replacing all gold/brass fixtures with much more soothing stainless steel, but we have big plans for the weekend! We will be at the Cardinals game Saturday and I am hosting my old roomie's baby shower on Sunday.

Maybe next weekend...

Here's the street view of the house:

Wednesday

Baby fever

Erin's baby John is too adorable for words. I had a great time holding him yesterday.

:)

Also - notice how huge my hands look compared to the itty bitty baby! and he was born 8lbs!!

Tuesday

For sale

Couch - $250, OBO - you pick up. We've had it for about 2 years as our "secondary" couch. Meaning we used it when we watched movies or someone slept on it occasionally. In VERY GOOD condition, but did not fit through the bedroom doorway to get into the man-room of our new house. Therefore, it must be replaced.

Monday

we're baaaack.

We are back from our drive across the country, but at least this time we didn't attempt to do 12 hours there, 24 hour visit, 12 hours back. We spaced it out long enough so that I was ready to come home and get back into the groove of things. We close on the new house tomorrow!!!!!

Photos of the visit:

Friday night - party of the boot

Now I'm tired. I'll post more tomorrow. Count this as a teaser of sorts.
