Wednesday

MBA? Check.

Tonight was a big night for me. I took my last final for my last class to complete my MBA. I don't want to announce it prematurely, but I'm preeeetty sure I will graduate in December. Do I have plans to do anything with those extra letters after my name? Nope. Not at this time. However, someday in the future I might want to teach at a community college, so now I can do that. I can also sleep at night knowing that I've completed it before we decided to jump on the baby bandwagon. I have to agree with everyone who told me to do it before we had kids. I'm not sure I can even handle having a kid, much less trying to go to school at the same time. Taking care of 1 husband and 1 small pug is enough for this girl.

So hopefully, now that school is over I will have more motivation to write here. I'm writing so much more in my job lately that I just haven't had the energy after studying.

Friday

Operation Garage Sale

I have big weekend plans. They involve masking tape, sharpies and cleaning out the garage. That's right. We are having our first ever garage sale next weekend (Oct. 3). Our neighborhood is advertising this thing as "the biggest in the St. Louis area." I'm not so sure about that claim, however, they are renting port-a-potties and the police come to direct traffic... so it's probably bigger than most. My new neighbor friend says don't plan on leaving. She says to stock up on food/water for the weekend because I won't be able to get in or out all weekend. My mom is moving in.

Apparently there's a web site with all the houses and lists their large items for sale (we all had to turn in $10 and a form) but I haven't looked at it yet. There's also a pre-sale for neighbors only to check out the good stuff. Similar to the early bird, but even earlier.

Thursday

ready for fall

Last weekend I bought this and decided to decorate the entire house for halloween. I even put out candy already!

Question

So I have a semi-provocative photo I was THISclose to posting, but thought of my cute little grandma reading it, and decided against it.

So I'm taking a poll. Do you want to see the creepy-weird, not-okay-for-my-granny-to-see photo that I took with my phone today?

If a lady named Doris posts, we all know it's okay.

Friday

Le weekend

This weekend's assignment for class is to watch tv. And then write about all the product placement and ethical dilemmas seen with those product placements. Could be our most interesting assignment this semester. That's the good news. The bad news is I've watched Biggest Loser and Community, both of which were full of products being placed.

Other plans for the weekend include taking General to his first Greentree festival in Kirkwood to shop crafts with my momma. Since the hubs is hanging out with his new BFFs all day tomorrow, I'm going to see some fam with the 'rents out in St Chas. Sunday we are going apple picking at Eckerts with my sis and her hubs and a bunch of other people. Should be a good time.

Wednesday

Big red

I have been super busy lately so that I dont even have much time or energy to devote to my blog. I do continually update my fb status and I sort of feel like that takes the place of this sometimes.

But above is my new fabric for the master bedroom. Our room is so big and bland right now that I think the red will help it feel a lilbit more homey. Then we just need some adult furniture and we will be done with this room.

Monday

Some pizza videos

Yesteday, my uncle had all the fam over (minus my hubs who is allergic to cats and had a coachers meeting) for pizza. I brought my new video camera since I've heard comments that General just isnt as entertaining to everyone else as he is to me.

This is my sister and cousin rolling out the dough.

This is my dad tossing the world's smallest pizza.

Sunday

Its hard being a pug.

General is having a rough day. He just had to fall asleep in the pile of laundry and refuses to move.

Interweb talk

I'm sure some of you are with me, when I say that I hate IE. I've been using Firefox exclusively for years now, but at home, we have issues. The hubs and I both use fbook, gmail, yahoo and blog. Because I hate logging him out and logging myself in on our home computer, I decided to try google chrome. This way, he can be logged in on Firefox and I can use chrome. It's so much easier to split it that way.

So far, I'm a fan of the Chrome. I cannot operate without tabs, so it's good that it has those. (I hate it when I use a computer at work and it has IE from like 2003 without tabbing capabilities. I keep hitting ctrl T and get so frustrated when nothing happens. The worst part is when the owner of said work computer has no idea what a tab is...) I also like the 'recently visited' blocks that pop up when I open a new tab. I'm not like the hubs who visits all corners of the internets. I stay in my little bubble of my 10 favorite sites and don't venture out much, so this works well for me.

If you still use IE, which is internet explorer, I highly suggest you venture out and try something new. You might be pleasantly suprised.

And stay tuned. I video'ed the horse at half time on Friday. Will post soon.

Thursday

Is it March yet?

In approximately six months, we will be staying at this house while we watch my BFF and her love tie the knot.

This is seriously all I can think about lately. I haven't been on vacay since our honeymoon. I don't count driving to North Carolina and back in 4 days a vacation. It might have used up some of my ETO and been a really good time, but it was not a real vacation.

Monday

A work in progress...

We took another step closer to upgrading the kitchen. My father-in-law promised us his fridge when we moved in a trade for the bar from our basement that hubby built. So we are after we get that fridge and buy a dishwasher, all of our appliances will be black/stainless. When we moved in, everything was white but in working order so we left them for a while. In the last week we've installed our new oven and microwave.
The kitchen when we moved in looks like this:
In progress:

and now it looks like this:

Now we just need a football-free weekend to work on the floor and about $4k for new countertops!

Very First Video

I'm a complete dork, but here's what happens when I come home from work every night.

Not sure why I felt the need to introduce myself, but like I said - this is my first video... Also I drove home with the windows down, so the hair is crazy.

I have to admit I am impressed with the opposing team. Their stands are packed and the fence is lined with people standing. Too bad hubby's team is already losing 14-2 and the first half isnt over yet...

Thursday

Hey there blogland, how's it going?

I just read about one of my friends* posting about jumping on the baby-making-wagon. While the hubs and I are still not ready to even put our big toe in that water, I often consider how I will handle that communication. As a professional communicator, I feel like I should have a communications plan for this huge life-changing event. So I think about cute little ways to tell our parents. I think about not telling anyone. I think about how to tell the office. I think about excuses for coming in late three months in a row. I think about what the proper way to tell extended family is, and when.

And then I think, maybe we should just wait a little longer.

*I have never met her in person, but feel like I know her and consider us blog-friends.

A baby shed

The hubs and I worked on putting this puppy together for about three hours on Sunday. Now we have extra storage for all things garden.
